John (Jack) Polles, 89, joined the Church Triumphant following complications from his fight with pneumonia on December 2, 2014. Born in Akron, Ohio he lived in the Akron area his entire life except for his service with the US Army. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), 106th Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operations. He worked for over forty years with Babcock & Wilcox Company in Barberton and later in Copley. Jack was married to Virginia (nee Bullock) and would have celebrated 70 years of a wonderful marriage on December 22. They have six children: John (wife Gail) of West Lafayette, IN; Jeffrey (wife Debbie) of Peoria, AZ; Gregory (wife Janet) of Diamond, OH; Timothy (wife Betty) of Wildwood, MO; Christopher (wife Nancy) of Barberton OH; and Janet Nischt (husband John) of Copley OH. Jack and Virginia have 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11:30 am on Friday, Dec. 5 at the Montrose Zion Methodist Church (565 N. Cleveland Massillon Rd. Akron), Rev. (Dr.) Walter S. Chisholm officiating, where family will receive visitors from 10:30 am until service time.
