John Garey

John R. Garey, age 78, passed away on March 13, 2023. He was born in Akron, Ohio to the Allan and Pat Garey. John married Linda (Turner) Garey and she survives.

He is also survived by his children, John (Theresa) Garey, Ronald (Winnie) Garey, Stefanie (Michael) Kurta; grandchildren, Joshua and Jenna Garey, Chemberleigh (Jason) Orr, Caitlin (Alex) Morton, Veronica (Kurt) Wolf, Cararenne Garey, Michael and Alexander Kurta; and great grandchildren, Joss, Keira, Wyatt, Elliana, Emersyn and Henly.

Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Shirley (Downie) Garey in 2007.

John was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country for 6 years. He was a diesel mechanic. John loved to shoot pool and belonged to multiple leagues. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and playing softball. For many years John was part of chapparells baton and the drum corp, where he spent time with his children and made lifelong friendships.

John's wish was to be cremated and a celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
