John Farr

John K. Farr, age 87, of Fairlawn, passed away on May 15, 2014 at his home. He was born in Akron, Ohio on October 24, 1925 to the late Ernest and Marie Farr. John was a 1943 graduate of St. Vincent High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Kent State University. He served our country during World War II in the US Army. John was the owner, along with his father, of Farr Distributing Company. Preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ernest and Dick Farr; he is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty; son, Bill Farr; grandchildren, Alex, Dana and Missy Farr; sister, Jeanne McDonnell and many nieces and nephews. John was a member of The Chapel in Green and their Primetime Group. The family would like to thank the staffs of Akron General Hospital, 3rd and 4th Floors, and Visiting Nurse Service for all of their compassionate care. Calling hours will be Thursday 5-7 p.m. at the Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, Ohio. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
