John Cowley

John N. Cowley 87 of Fairlawn entered a well-deserved rest on Jan 23 2012. Born in Akron to Alda and John Cowley Sr. he spent much of his youth on a family farm in Fayetteville TN. He also lived in Akron with his mother her sister Susie and Uncle Jim Moorhead. John was nothing if not an industrious driven kid. He worked myriad jobs from shining shoes to employment at Akron's Royal Theater and Goodyear Tire retiring after 47 years from tire production and planning management. John attended Central High School (where he met his future wife Katharine L. Lowery) and attended Akron U. He is survived by daughters Pamela of Richmond VA and Allison (Timothy) Cowley-Omundson of Los Angeles CA and granddaughters Lily and Nora. He leaves a nephew Richard Lowery and niece Joan James. The family is eternally grateful to treasured and devoted niece Debbie (Jon) Martino and dear friend and caregiver Gail Harris. John was fortunate to have in his life the steadfast and much-loved families of his adored and beautiful friend of many years Ruth (Barrett) White of Akron. Ruth's daughters Cathy (Bill) Kondik with their sons Christopher Brian and Andrew and Christie (Fred) Kaufman with their children Ian and Kara delivered joy hospitality and immeasurable love to John throughout the years. The family will receive friends at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY 3475 Copley Rd on Thursday Jan. 26 from 10 AM - 12 PM. Funeral service to immediately follow at 12 PM. Interment will be at Rose Hill.
