John 'Jack' Minter Bowyer, 84, passed away on Monday April 2, 2018. He was born on June 25, 1933 in Akron, Ohio to the late Ezra and Mary Bowyer. Jack served our country as a pilot in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Captain. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Akron. Jack married Colleen Ann Thigpen on September 28, 1957. Jack Retired from Goodyear Aerospace, Undersea Weapons Division. He traveled all over the United States and Europe for Goodyear Aerospace. He also was a part-time Instructor at the University of Akron teaching Graduate Level Mathematics for over 20 years. He also worked for Independent Testing and Maintenance. While working for them, he went to Liberia, Africa, Chicago and all over the state of Ohio. He joined the Masonic Lodge, Meridian Sun, in Richfield, Ohio. He is a Past Master of the Lodge. While supporting his wife, Colleen, he joined Easter Star Ellsworth Chapter. He was the Worthy Patron while Colleen was the Worthy Matron. While supporting his children, Charles and Richard, he became a DeMolay Dad. He enjoyed camping, canoeing and traveling with his family. He was very proud of his ability to take his family on a one month European Vacation. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Colleen Ann Bowyer and their two sons Charles and Richard, daughter-in-law China and granddaughter Samantha and two great-grandchildren Eliza and Ezra. They family will receive friends Saturday April 7 from 11am-2pm at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd., Copley. Private interment to be held at the convenience of the family.
