Joe Duncan, age 93, passed away on July 8, 2016. He was born on July 27, 1922 in Sharon Center and spent the majority of his life there. Joe served our country in the United States Army, serving in WWII and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He was an electrician for more than 65 years and was a volunteer fireman with the Sharon Twp. Fire Dept. Joe was an avid Indians fan and loved to ride motorcycles throughout the years. His hobbies included several train displays; his self-built replica of Jacobs Field that caught the attention of Fox 8; and the knitting and donation of over 1,500 ski caps to Warm Up Medina County. For 14 years, he was a vital part of Team S.H.A.R.O.N. helping to raise over $400,000 for ACS. Preceded in death by his parents, George and Ellen and sisters, Evelyn and Ginny; he is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy (Moon) Duncan; 4 daughters, Diane (Ken) Schiele, Karen (Steve) Kennedy, Ellen (Ken) Codding and Jo Anne (Mark) Larkman; brothers, John and Carl Duncan; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. A Celebration of Life will be held at Granger UMC, 1235 Granger Rd. Medina, Ohio on Thursday July 28 at 10:30 am, where friends may call one hour prior to service. Interment to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to either Hospice at HMC/ Inpatient, 5075 Windfall Rd.
