Joan Johnson

Joan L. Johnson Joan was a lifetime resident of Akron. She was a graduate of St. Sebastian School, St. Vincent High School, attended Rosary College and graduated from The University of Akron. Joan was a 3rd grade teacher at Robinson Elementary School, past president of the Christ Child Society and a board member of CYO of Summit County. Joan volunteered at St. Thomas Hospital, St. Hilary Grade School and Ridgewood Hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Josephine Hummel and brother Jack. Joan is survived by her husband Jim and children Mike (Julia), Tom (Missy), Sue, Tim (Kim), Barb (Gary Bikun), Julie, seven grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian burial is Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Sebastian and internment at Holy Cross. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
