Jesse Howard Davis 92 formerly of Green passed away peacefully September 30 2010. He was born in Slocomb AL to a sharecropping family; grew up in Akron during the great depression and graduated in January 1937 from Akron East High school. Jess became a radio performer on WWVA. He also served as an army officer in North Africa and Italy during WWII. He endured a year in a veteran's hospital following the war. In 1942 he married Annie Clark of Illinois in Laredo Texas. Jess was a 32nd degree mason. Jess retired from local 219 and the Geopfert Company in 1980. In 1988 he suffered a disabling stroke. He was an avid fan of Alabama Crimson Tide Football Preceded in death by devoted wife of 56 years and eldest son ''Butch.'' He is survived by sons Jerry (Debi) Tom (Reanie) and Scott (Mary); sister Estelle Price; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; caregiver/angel and best friend Janet. He was known as ''Big Papa'' to little Andrew when they shared a kit-kat often. 'Howie' was amazing in his contentment with life despite his severe disabilities. Funeral Services have taken place.
