Jerome L. Weiss, 73, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Born in the Bronx , lived in Manhattan. As a young man he worked in the garment industry and residential real estate. Jerome was a veteran of the Army service during the Vietnam War. He left NY and came to Akron 20 years ago. He was a member of AA and recently celebrated 30 years in the fellowship. Jerry struggled with serious health problems most of his life. He leaves behind his Saturday Morning Men’s group at St. Thomas who were his “family”; his cat Baby who he greatly treasured and was beside him when he died; his adopted family Phyllis and Ed from Akron, Peter and Mel from NY.. Thank you to Kelly and Kathy for their help over the last few months. Jerry had a big heart and volunteered at Helping Hands of Summit County, a local charity he donated too. He would literally give you the shirt off his back if needed. He loved nice clothes, shoes, cars and food although his 40 years struggle with Crohn’s disease made it difficult to enjoy life. He once said he was searching for the light at the end of the tunnel, I hope he finally found it and is at peace. There will be no services. Private interment will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
