Jerome Cummins

Jerome (Jerry) Cummins 78 of Akron died December 13 2003 after a long Illness. He was a graduate of St. Joseph Grade School Cuyahoga Falls High School and Kent State University (Kappa Sigma Chi Fraternity). Jerry served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He was president of Cummins Insurance Agancy. His professional memberships included the Ohio Dept. of Ins. Agents American States Ins. Co. and Westfield Ins. Co. with whom he received many awards. Jerry was also active with St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Vincent and St. Hilary Churches. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Michael C. and Florence (Schwartz) Cummins. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Mel Cummins; daughter Kelly (John) Maurer; grandaughter Katie Maurer; brother Michael (Marina) Cummins; brother-in-law Thomas (Rebecca) Savalan; nieces nephew and many cousins. Memorial Mass Wednesday December 17 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent Church. Private interment in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at The Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the St. Thomas Hospital Women's Board or the Heart Group at Akron General Medical Center.
