Janet Lackey

Janet M. Lackey, formerly of Copley, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2018 at her residence in Mooresville, NC surrounded by her family after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Janet was born on May 29, 1935 to the late Leslie and Ardis (Osborn) Knecht. Janet grew up in Copley and graduated from Copley High School in 1953. She retired from the Copley-Fairlawn School System with 25 years of service. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Harry, daughter Lynda (Brian) Schafer of Troutman, NC, son Mike (Carrie) Lackey of Mooresville, NC and grandson Lane Schafer of Troutman, NC. Janet is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Janet was preceded in death by son, Greg and brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Betty Knecht. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to our Visiting Angels - Amy and Tammy who have provided amazing care and support to Janet over the last 5 years and also to the Novant Home Hospice Team for their care and support over the last 18 months. Visitation will be at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd., Copley, OH on Monday, November 26 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm following visitation. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Copley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association, 70 W. Streetsboro St. #201, Hudson, OH 44236.
