Jane Dawn Reece, 80, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on May 3, 2014. Born on October 4, 1933, in Akron, Ohio to Robert and (Alice) Dawn Cullen, Jane graduated from Buchtel High School and then attended The University of Akron, where she became a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and, more importantly, met her husband, John. After graduating with a degree in education, Jane taught at Schumacher Elementary School in Akron, Ohio, where she met four teachers with whom she would become best friends for the rest of their lives. Jane married John in 1955 and celebrated 54 years of marriage with their children and grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, where she volunteered for the Sanctuary Society and taught PSR for many years. Jane also volunteered at St. Thomas Hospital and was on the hospital's Women's Board. Second only to Jane's love of family and friends, was her love of the Cleveland Indians. Jane was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth; sons, Christopher (Barbara) and Timothy (Terri); grandchildren, Colbey, Anna, Kelly, Allison, Alec, Bradley, Megan and Julia; brother, John (Linda) Cullen; brother-in-law, Wayne Vetter and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 476 Mull Ave. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St., Akron, on Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
