Jane Fawcett Comunale passed away peacefully August 16 2011 in her home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Jane was a resident of both Akron OH and Fort Lauderdale FL. After attending Chateau Brillantmont in Lausanne Switzerland and Garland College in Boston Massachusetts she went on to be a buyer for Bloomingdales in New York City. From Bloomingdales Jane went on to own and operate a retail store in Merriman Valley known as Sisters Three with her two sisters. Jane's generosity throughout her life was exemplified by her many philanthropic endeavors including those undertaken by her as a member of the Akron Children's Hospital Women's Board the Akron Garden Club the Ohio Ballet and the Junior League to which she generously donated her time and home for many events. Her philanthropy pinnacled with her co-founding of the Stephen A. Comunale Jr. Family Cancer Foundation which was founded in honor of her oldest son's equally positive and inspiring battle with cancer. The Foundation provides financial assistance and complimentary programs for local families battling cancer. Jane's selfless commitment to the Foundation and its efforts was best seen through her organization of Foundation events including the Foundation's bi-annual fundraiser for over 700 guests. Jane was an avid boater and dog lover and her passion for traveling took her all over the world. A devoted wife of 38 years loving mother and friend to many Jane is survived by her husband Stephen A. Comunale two of her three children Amanda and John and daughter-in-law Sarah. She is also survived by her sisters Julie Deane and Ellen (Fawcett) Tobin and Ellen's husband Bill. Jane was predeceased by her oldest son Stephen A. Comunale Jr. parents Henry and Mary Ellen Fawcett brother-in-law Terry Deane sister-in-law Amy Comunale Klein and nephew Jason Deane. Jane's extended family includes nephew Mitchell Deane in-laws Martha Comunale Michele Comunale Frank Comunale Marco and Melissa (Comunale) Meyo Greg and Monica (Comunale) Stevens David and Sue Comunale Mark Comunale and Jeff Klein. Jane's nieces and nephews include Martha Mary Frank Anthony and Katherine Meyo Emma and Julia Klein and Sarah Mark Annabelle Elliot and Molly Comunale. In addition Jane leaves behind her loyal and caring friend Chris Benadum and faithful furry sidekick Rennie. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Stephen A Comunale Jr. Family Cancer Foundation P.O. Box 13805 Akron Ohio 44333 or another charity of choice. A memorial service is scheduled for 12 p.m. Friday August 19th at St. Paul's Episcopal Church 1361 W. Market St Akron 44313. Private interment will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park. A celebration of Jane's life will follow at the Hilton Akron Fairlawn.
