James Oliver Sullivan, 94 years old, passed away August 2, 2014. Born in Akron and resided in North Hill most of his life, he was a graduate of St. Martha Grade School, St. Vincent High School and attended Akron University. Mr. Sullivan was a lifetime member of St. Martha's Church, a member of Holy Name Society and he gave time to be helpful in many projects at the Parish. He had served in the Army during WWII, was a member of Knights of Columbus. James had worked in the furniture business, including Oliver Furniture for over 30 years and Best Furniture for 26 years until his retirement. James was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cecelia Sullivan; brothers, Rev. J. Vincent Sullivan, and Rev. Thomas F. Sullivan, and sister, Rose Marie Martin. He is survived by many nieces and nephews in various parts of the country. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Blessed Trinity, 300 E. Tallmadge Ave., 44310. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Trinity Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St., Akron.
