James Misanko

January 24, 1933 — June 2, 2024

James A. Misanko, born January 24, 1933, passed away June 2, 2024. James, "Jim", served in the United States Army beginning in November of 1955. He retired with 29 years of service from the City of Akron Police Department. In recent years, Jim was employed part-time with Hummel Funeral Homes, in Akron, for 27 years.

Jim loved all sports but especially baseball. He played in Akron's Silver League for 21 years and was inducted into the GABHOF as a pitcher in 1997. Jim also belonged to FOP #7 Lodge and the FCSU Branch 553.

He was preceded in death by sons, David and William, and his beloved wife, Lois (Babe) Misanko. He is survived by his son, James E (Sharon), grandsons, Eric (Angela) and Matt (Erin), and his three and a half precious grandchildren, Jocelyn, Adele, Max, and the newest little Misanko expected in November. To his grandchildren, he will always be remembered as "Popo".

Calling hours will be held Monday, June 10th, 10:00am-11:00am with mass following at Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church at 2425 Myersville Rd, Akron, OH 44312.
