James Beard Jr.

James D. Beard Jr., age 88, passed away Tuesday, August 28th peacefully in is home. Jim was born in Newark, OH and graduated from South High School in Akron. He enjoyed Thursday morning breakfast with his high school buddies for over 30 years. Jim served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Easy Company, 2nd Battalion of 1st Marine division during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Norton Baptist Church and the Silver King Tractor Club Jim is survived by wife Lillian, daughter Lynn (Mickey) Bridwell, Louisville, KY, son James W (Claudia) Beard, Copley, OH Grandchildren Jill, Alyson, Justin, Taylor and Great Grandchildren Jayden, Mason and Savannah, sister Carrie (Betty) Merakian, and preceded in death by sister Dorothy (Bill) McKee The family would like to recognize and extend our sincere gratitude to Dee, Alesha, Alison, Amanda, Kayla, Kim, Pat and Stacey, Jim's care givers. You are amazing people and we are forever grateful for all of the wonderful care you have provided. The family will receive friends at the Hummel Funeral Home 3475 Copley Road, Copley on Tuesday September 4th with a funeral service from 3:00-4:00 PM and calling hours immediately following from 4:00-7:00 PM. A private burial will be conducted at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
