After graduation in 1946, she attended the University of Akron for two years before working in the office at Polsky's Department Store and was later a secretary at Firestone. Jackie met her future husband Ray Stankard at a wedding and it was 'love at first sight' for both of them. They were married within a year in September, 1958 and raised four sons. She and Ray were longtime members of St. Sebastian Parish. They were a great team and a beautiful couple, making friends and enjoying life wherever they went. Jackie was an active member of the Akron Christ Child Society for 55 years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, crafts, tennis, collecting artwork by Edna Hibel and cheering on her favorite sports teams - the Cavs, the Indians and all her grandkids' teams. She was an amazing lady known for her fascinating stories, quick sense of humor, infectious laugh and kind heart. The family is so very grateful for the love and assistance given by Janice Vincent for her care of Jackie over the past two years along with the staff at The Village of St. Edward in Fairlawn.
