Irene Cook

October 27, 1916 — June 24, 2010

Irene Mary (Kippes) Cook 93 of Copley Ohio passed away Thursday June 24 2010 at The Village of St. Edwards in Fairlawn Ohio. Irene was born 1 of 10 children in Argentina South America after her parents John Peter and Frances (Sommer) Kippes escaped from Russia aware the revolutionary winds were sweeping the country. They eventually were successful in immigrating to the United States settling in Ohio. Always proud of having become an American citizen at the age of 25 Irene never missed the opportunity to vote. On September 22 1934 Irene married her love forever Frank B. Cook. They lived almost all of their married life in the home she and Frank built board by board. They had 4 sons to whom they dedicated their lives. Irene tended the acre garden canned all of their food raised the children and worked part-time in various positions. She was very dedicated to her church and was a founding member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church. She also liked to crochet and read. When grandchildren arrived they filled her life anew. Despite great discomfort Irene kept her sense of humor. Survivors include her sons: Francis (Marilyn) Cook of DePere Wisconsin; Albert (Laura) Cook of Norton Ohio; Allen (Kathie) Cook of Munroe Falls Ohio; and John (Martina) Cook of Iron Mountain Michigan. She leaves 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by: her sisters Rosemary (Kippes) Francesconi of Fairlawn Ohio and Frances (Kippes) McGurr; her nieces Marilyn (Tony) Schoeffler of Rocky River Ohio and Donna Kunkel of Akron Ohio ; and great friends: Sandy and Leonard Shetler of Copley Ohio; and Bob Bodeker and many close friends of Copley Place. She is preceded in death by her husband Frank her parents John and Frances and many brothers and sisters. A Memorial Mass will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday July 30 2010 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church 1676 S. Cleveland Massillon Rd. Private Inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the church from 10:30-11:00 AM.
