Irene Christ

Irene E. Christ 96 passed away November 19 2006. Irene was born in Gyorkony Hungary and came to the US in 1914. She graduated from Garfield High School where she wrote the Alma Mater in 1926. Irene worked for Ohio Bell and retired after 30 years. She was a life member of Zion Lutheran Church. Irene taught Sunday School sang in the choir and was president of the 'Golden Agers' for many years. She was a member and singer in the Akron Liedertafel. Irene was preceded in death by husbands Rudolph Vollert and Henry Christ. Irene is survived by her children Ruth Davis Elise (Russell) White Ilona (Robert) Stroupe Ronald (Debbie) Christ Ralph (Cheri) Christ and Russell (Sandra) Christ; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A Private Family Burial will take place. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 PM November 28 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church 159 S. High St. Akron OH 44308. Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Hospice Care Center 3358 Ridgewood Rd. Akron OH 44333.
