Ina M. Griffith, 'Marie', 92, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2018 with her family by her side in Park Village Health Care Center in Dover, Ohio. She was born February 20, 1926 in Holloway, Ohio to Charles W. Jackson and Myrtle M. Jackson the ninth of ten children. She attended Muskingum College and graduated with a degree in Education. After graduation, she moved to Medina and was a high school teacher at Medina High School. Marie met her future husband, Robert Griffith and they were married in June of 1952. Their union was blessed with two children, Ruth and Tim. Marie was a stay at home Mom, a school room mother and a Girl Scout troop leader. As her children become older, Marie went back to school and continued her career as a 5th and 6th grade teacher at Robinson and then Hotchkiss Elementary until her retirement. She and Dad traveled with a group of friends from First United Methodist Church in Akron, where Mom was a member for over 50 years. Mom was an avid sports fan, and loved baseball and the Indians. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Bob, in 2006. She leaves behind her daughter, Ruth of Hollywood, Florida and her son, Tim (Mary) of Akron. She also leaves her 4 grandchildren, Robbie Griffith (Amanda), Chris Griffith (Colleen), Craig Griffith and Katie Calvert (Andrew). Marie has 7 great-grandchildren, Carson, Alex and Claire Griffith, Chase, Chloe and Caileigh Griffith and Baby Calvert (due in early 2019). She also leaves her younger brother, John Jackson, special nieces and their husbands, Elizabeth Schwartz (Jim) and Pamela Hamblin (Andy) and a large extended family. Calling hours will be 4-7pm Thursday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St. Akron, Ohio 44304, where funeral services will be 10:00am Friday.Private interment will take place. The family suggests donations to the charity of your choice.
