Hillary W. (Bill) Vaughn 78 died August 14 2004 after a long illness with his family by his side. Bill was a life long resident of Akron. He was president and owner of Vaughn Construction Co. for over 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne during WWII as an infantry paratrooper. He arrived in Holland the week after D-Day and took part in the Battle of the Bulge. After VE day he was an honorguard for General Dwight D. Eisenhower in Frankfurt Germany. He was a long time member of the Diamond Grille Golf League and enjoyed taking money from his fellow golfers. He was a very hard working generous and fair man. Upon retirement he spent much of his time creating treasured heirlooms for his family. He celebrated his 70th Birthday skydiving with his son daughter and grandson. Hillary Vaughn was preceeded in death by his parents John and Elsie Vaughn. He is survived by his loving wife Jane son Bruce (Cathy) Vaughn daughter Vickie (Rodney) Wilcox of NH stepdaughter Kathy (John) Sturm of NC grandchildren Mary Vaughn Bonnie Croft Bruce Vaughn Jr. Joshua Sturm Brandon Wilcox. Three greatgrandchildren. Brothers; Comer Vaughn Jacob Vaughn of TX Terri Vaughn Sisters; Carfie Bunton of TN and Carol June Dean and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on August 17 2004 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Interment in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
