Hazel Hawkins

September 2, 1923 — January 28, 2013

Hazel I. Hawkins 89 of Akron Ohio passed away peacefully Monday January 28 2013. She was a native of Murphy NC and relocated to Akron Ohio with her husband Luther and two young children where she lived out a long and happy life. She was the youngest daughter of the late William Milton and Grovie Silvey Anderson. Hazel was a homemaker and her home reflected the pride she took in keeping it beautiful as if it was a work of art. She also enjoyed gardening growing flowers and most of all caring for her two boys. She loved to dress up and go dining with her husband. She is most remembered for her upbeat spirit sense of humor and willingness to help others. She was of the Baptist faith. Hazel is survived by her two sons Gene E Hawkins of Akron Ohio and John R Hawkins of Glencoe Alabama one grandson Michael Hawkins of Stevensville Texas along many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Luther Marion Hawkins three brothers John Anderson Claude Milton Anderson Hubert Lee Anderson and four sisters Beulah Anderson Beavers Maude Anderson Jones Eulala Anderson Voyles and Ruby Anderson Humphrey. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Thursday February 7 2013 with prior visitation between 1-2 PM at the Hummel Funeral Home Chapel located at 500 E. Exchange Street Akron Ohio. Pastor Michael Mancari will officiate. Internment Services will be held following the funeral at Hillside Memorial Park located at 1025 Canton Road Akron Ohio. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and caring shown Hazel by the Altercare of Cuyahoga Falls Nursing Home. Memorial contributions would be greatly appreciated to offset the cost of the funeral services. Contributions may be made in 'Memory of Hazel I. Hawkins' to the family via the Hummel Funeral Home Attn: Brittany K. Jones Funeral Director.
