Harriet Joan Guinter Orr passed away on February 21 2012. She was born in Akron Ohio on December 14 1921 to George Guinter and Dula Harter Guinter. She attended Portage Path Elementary School and graduated from Buchtel High School. An accomplished pianist Joan studied music with Arthur Reginald and later at the University of Akron where she met her husband Dale Orr son of Clifford Orr and Hazel Myers Orr. Dale and Joan were married May 16 1942 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Akron. They raised four children Michael Janice Judith and Jacqueline. In 1977 Joan and Dale retired to Pinellas County Florida where Dale passed away in 1989. Joan was a former member and volunteer with Tuesday Musical Club and the Akron Children's Hospital TWIG program and a devoted volunteer for more than ten years with the Palm Harbor Florida Public Library. She was an avid and knowledgeable antique collector and enjoyed travel music crossword puzzles and bridge. Joan was preceded in death by her parents George and Dula brother Howard husband Dale and nephew James Guinter. She is survived by children Michael Orr of Lehigh Acres Florida Janice (Rudy) Baum of Oakton Virginia Jacqueline (Roy) Holland of Dallas Texas Judith (Jeffrey) James of Akron and six grandchildren Whitney (Ty) Daws of Lubbock Texas Dale Coberly of Dallas Texas R. Michael Baum of Missoula Montana Gregory Baum of Richmond Virginia Cary James of Madison Wisconsin and Anna James of Akron. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Nader Botros and the caring staff of Rockynol. Cremation has taken place. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
