Grayce A. (Metz) Prats 91 went to that big golf course in the sky joining the foursome of her parents (Joseph and Anna Metz) and brother Raymond 'Buddy' Metz and hitting off the men's tee to birdie every hole for eternity. In this life Grayce loved to golf (obviously) and 'in her day ' was an A-player at Mogadore and the Ladies Association where she was the handicap chair (before the invention of home computers). She worked as a bookkeeper and secretary at various places including the Akron Health Department Akron Credit Bureau Roadway Roberts Cartage and Sparkle Market of Tallmadge Ohio. Besides golfing Grayce loved to work dance play the slots win at Euchre flirt drink (7/7s and later vodka unless it was the cheap kind bought at the grocery). She also enjoyed talking on the phone reading watching silly TV shows like Dancing with the Stars and reruns of Seinfeld and Sex in the City. Proud of maintaining her girlish figure Grayce never tipped the scales much past 100 pounds and never wore anything larger on her feet than a size 4.5. She did love her shoes and her clothes and her jewelry. She was a devout Catholic even though she had a few favorite curse words - mostly reserved for missed putts. Grayce hated eating. She never even tried pizza or perogies even though she was a (German-born) member of the Sons of Italy and the Jednota Club. Grayce will be dearly missed by her husband of 73 years Joseph with whom she resided until her death. She also leaves two daughters Judi (Mike) Christy of Green and Joanna (Bill) Ross of Gadsden Alabama; Grandchildren Brian (Angela) Ross and Heather (Ross) Swann of Alabama Zach Christy of Cleveland and Erika Christy of Green and two great-grandchildren -- Hannah Swann and Steven Ross both of Alabama. In addition Grayce leaves her special friends Lee Ashton MaryAnn Minrovic Billy Novak and Betty Orcutt plus several nieces and nephews all residing in Ohio. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday August 31 at 11:00 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church 2580 Benton Ave. Akron 44312 where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
