Gracemae Rudgers

August 15, 1915 — May 2, 2011

Gracemae Rudgers of Akron died peacefully on Monday May 2 2011. She was 95 years old. Like many from her generation she lived her life not for personal accomplishments but for her family. She was a daughter to George and Grace Beims born in Goosetown S. Akron where she lived her entire life. She was a sister to Henry Beims Sadie Burroughs and her best friend (and biggest sibling rival) Sophie Dawson. Gracemae was an honor student and 1932 graduate of Akron South High. Denied the opportunity to attend college she made sure her children could attend college by working during their teen years. She was the wife of Art Rudgers a hardworking hard drinking rubber worker who died in 1970. Gracemae was first and foremost a mother to her 3 kids Nancy (Harry) Jordan Jim (Bobbie) Rudgers and Dick (Jacquie) Rudgers. From making 'cream' filled cupcakes for their school lunches to babysitting anytime and anywhere for their children her life centered around their lives. She was eager and very happy to become the loving grandma to Kathleen (Paul) Hohl Jennifer (Ken Whitney) Rudgers Julie (Jay) Rudgers-Croft Mandy (Bryan) Harbaugh Andy (Erin) Rudgers and J.R. Rudgers. She adored her great-grandchildren Jordan Hohl Jackson Harbaugh and Elsa Whitney. Throughout her life mom remained a loyal member of Concordia Lutheran Church. Graciemae lived her life so ours could be happy and secure. She was a rousing success. Her children will have a private Memorial Service at a later date. Donations may be made to the Young Concordians c/o Concordia Lutheran Church 724 Sumner St Akron OH 44311.
