Gleason John (Jack) Murray passed away from complications of an emergency surgery August 24, 2020, at the age of 94. He was a WWII combat veteran in the US Army 1st Cavalry Division and Mounted MP in Japan. Throughout the years he was a member of the Elk's and Eagle's Clubs, Moose Lodge, American Legion, Hibernian Club, the Fraternal Order of Orioles, Sons of Herman and Army/Navy Club. He served as the Democratic Chairman in Okeechobee County, FL. He loved to dance and enjoyed life and especially loved doing “Love in the Bucket” for the Gatlin Show for Andrea and Darryl. He worked as truck driver and was in the Teamsters Union for many years and went on to own several family businesses including a motel, bar and grocery store. He is survived by his children Jack (Aggie) Murray, Jean Murray, Sharon Scott, Karen (Jerry) Beach, Cathy Phillips, Gary (Maureen) Murray, Glee Ann (Christopher) Agius, Shawn (Tammy) Murray, brothers Gerald (Karen) Murray and James (Carol) Murray, his best friend and significant other Judi Brooks, 23 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and many many friends. Jack preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Bette Jane Murray, parents John Gleason and Jennie Brandon, brother Ronald Murray, and sisters Janet Banta Beigle, Ramona Hartle. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Services will be in Akron, OH and Cape Coral, FL when the world becomes Covid friendly.
