Gerald Sipka

Gerald B. Sipka, age 78, passed away on December 31, 2020. He was born on October 15, 1942 in Akron to the late John and Helen Sipka but truly was born again on February 16, 2004 when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Jerry grew up in North Hill, graduating from the University of Akron at the age of 21 with three Masters Degrees while being an excellent catcher in baseball. He spent 27 years teaching in the Akron Public Schools, teaching health and the first approved financial planning class in the state as well as coaching wrestling, football and track. This coincided with Jerry becoming a certified financial planner for 37 years until his retirement in 2018. He enjoyed golfing where he had 5 holes-in-one. He also enjoyed very creative cooking, dining out and watching football, especially the Buckeyes and Browns.
Preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Ann and John "Jack" Sipka; he is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Julie; mother-in-law, Joanne Kelley; brothers-in-law, Al, Geno and Chris (Lori) Tersigni and many family and friends.
Memorial service will be 12:00 Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at The Chapel in Green (1800 Raber Rd. Uniontown, Ohio 44685) where calling hours will be from 11am till 12pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church in memory of Jerry.
