VIEW MEMORIAL TRIBUTEGeorge Swaino 90 of Copley was called home by the Lord on May 22 2009. He was a person who was well known and liked by his community. He was referred to as the unofficial Mayor of Copley serving as Copley Trustee Secretary of Zoning Commission Justice of the Peace Constable and a periodic mail-carrier. George was born on October 22 1918 in Copley OH and graduated from Copley High School in 1937. He was the manager of Standard Motor Parts in Akron for 40 years. He served his country in WWII as Master Sergeant was past Commander of the American Legion Post 473 and a member of the Copley VFW. He also served as an Elder and Trustee of First Church. George leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years Selma nicknamed 'Sally' who was always by his side loving and caring for him. He is also survived by 3 children: Jean (George) Naswadi Dick (Patsy) Swaino and Carol Swaino Morrison; grandchildren Jeffrey Naswadi Bobby (Trina) Morrison Christopher Morrison David Morrison Carolyn (JT)Payer Kelly Morrison; great-grandchildren Gavin Xander and Riley Morrison Kayleigh and Reagan Payer. George emphasized unity in the family doing the right thing and being nice to each other. We will always be thankful for the values he instilled in all of us. The family would like to give special thanks to Visiting Nurse Service especially Mary and Tammy and the rest of the staff at Hospice for their attentive care. Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday May 27 2009 at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY 3475 Copley Road. Interment in Copley Township Cemetery where the American Legion Copley Post No. 473 and Copley VFW Post No. 7971 will provide military Honors. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY on Tuesday May 26 2009 from 4PM-7PM. Memorial donations may be made to Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank or The Chapel in lieu of flowers.
