Georganne Varga

GEORGANNE M. VARGA (NEE CASSESE) a long time resident of the Akron-Cuyahoga Falls area, died Wednesday the 21st of August at Continuing Healthcare of Cuyahoga Falls after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 29, 1941, Georganne was a graduate of Ursuline and received her Registered Nursing degree from St. Elizabeth’s Nursing School, Dayton Ohio, in 1962. She married Richard S. Varga on September 29, 1962 in Cleveland Ohio at Holy Rosary Church. After graduation, Georganne lovingly shared her nursing skills and humor at Akron City Hospital, followed by private duty nursing with Dr. Russell L. Platt and later with Dr. Leora Traynor. She graciously served as a caregiver and dedicated her time to selflessly helping her many patients. In her early years she was active at St. Sebastian School with girl’s soccer and chaired various social events. She loved good food, going to the theatre and movies, traveling and antiquing with Richard, and playing card games with her children and grandchildren. Before going to National Church Residences, she lived in the North Point at Hunter’s Crossing in Cuyahoga Falls. Georganne was preceded in death by her parents Dominic and Jennie Cassese, her brothers Dominic and Father Anthony Cassese, her nephew Dominic Laurienzo, and her granddaughter Olivia. She is survived by her husband, Richard, her sister Mary Ellen (Glenn) Keiper, children Dawn (Mike) Selzer, Jeffrey, Christopher, Greg (Vivienne) Varga, grandchildren Nicole (Jason) Dunn, Lauren Selzer, Frank, Bella, Alaina, Catherine, Stephanie, great-grandson Beckett Doles, and sisters-in-law Jean Varga and Gladys Varga. The family thanks the staff at Continuing Healthcare of Cuyahoga Falls for their kindness and loving care of Georganne. Calling hours will be Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 1-4pm at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY, 3475 Copley Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 24, 2019 at 11 am at St. Sebastian Catholic Church with a private burial in Lake View Cemetery.
