Gary E. Mazur, age 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2015. Born in Akron on September 28, 1950 to the late Alexander and Mary Mazur. Gary was a proud 1968 graduate of Archbishop Hoban High School and served our country in the Coast Guard. He retired from Rockne's on Merriman Rd. where he made friends that turned into family, lasting impressions on anyone that walked in the door and shared HIS opinions on every local and state sports team, whether you liked it or not, especially 'that' school across town. Gary was a loyal Yankees fan, an avid fisherman and loved his family trips to Canada and Bass Lakes. Northfield Race Track and the Hard Rock Casino are wondering how they will ever stay open without him. He is survived by his children, Nicole (Greg) Oziomek, Christopher 'Cam' (Tina) Mazur and Jenifer Nolen, and their mother, Cathie Davis; grandchildren, Alex, Abby and Austin Mazur, Tyler Eberhardt, Olivia Oziomek and Jackson and Jenna Nolen; sister, Kathy (Bill) Boswell; nieces and nephews, Adam (Missy) Boswell, Matt (Cynthia) Boswell and Tara Byard and cousins, Bill and Julie Mikolajczyk. He is also survived by his extended family, The Hamads, The Oplingers, The Gilbrides, Kitty, and Jenks. The family would like to thank the staff of Akron City Hospital, especially Dr. Maseelall for all of their patience and care. A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 5 at The Polish American Club, 472 E. Glenwood Ave. Akron, casual dress and many stories required.
