Garnet Wells, 94, went home to be with her Lord on March 2, 2018. She was born in Doylestown on November 12, 1923, and lived - and as she always reminded her family, also worked - on farms there and in Canal Fulton. She always considered herself the best farm hand. She was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple for more than 50 years. She was retired as an executive secretary from B.F. Goodrich and was proud of her many recommendations there, and for many years after socialized with the informal 'Goodrich Girls.' Among her several hobbies was travel, but her real passion was building magnificent flower gardens. She is survived by her son Gary and daughter-in-law Rhonda; grandson Ben and his wife Kelly; grandson Brandon and his wife Sarah; great-grandchildren Braden, Lydia, Elvis, Macy and Henry; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert; son John; parents Fitzhugh and Fanny Shoemaker; sisters Ruth Bruney, Thelma Bennett and Shirley Hill; and brother Franklin Shoemaker. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road Copley, Ohio 44321. Private burial, for family.
