Frederick Stephen Picciocchi 95 passed away December 11 2008 following a lengthy period of declining health. He was born June 16 1913 in Youngstown to Vincenza (nee D'Arienzo) and Alfredo Picciocchi. Frederick was preceded in death by his wife Mildred; sisters Viola Rinehart Catherine Fender and Ann Sutter; and brother Guy Shawkey. He is survived by his granddaughter Paula Ramsey of Pinkerton OH; niece Carla (Michael) Petras; and nephews Fred (Linda) Williams Guy (Mary) Shawkey Fred (Fran) Sutter and Robert (Jimene) Rinehart. Fred will be remembered by his many great nieces and nephews. Fred served as a member of the Army military police and was a veteran of World War II. A self made businessman Fred built owned and operated Case Avenue Service. He was known and respected by the many customers he had over the years. He loved to go salvaging and everyone came to Fred for a good deal. He was a caring and charismatic man who could light up a room with his smile. Fred loved his family and friends dearly and was always quick to offer up a witty nickname to those whom he cherished. He was proud of his Italian heritage and will be greatly missed by his caring family. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Monday December 15 2008 at Hummel Funeral Home 500 East Exchange Street Akron. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3-6 pm.
