Frank Stams age 79 of Cuyahoga Falls passed away Friday February 3 2012 at his residence. Frank came into this world in the loving arms of Gus and Catherine Stams. He left this world in the loving arms of his devoted family. What memories Frank left all of us; His great sense of humor his sparkle his wit and his ability to make every day an adventure. What an unforgettable trip we all had. The St. Vincent pals Coach Wentz' rules the high school tournament game that sadly was lost in overtime the underhand foul shot the Akron U gang that had as much fun before and after the games as they did playing in them Coach 'Red' Cochrane's bloody Mary plays the slow boat to Korea the wedding where one of the groomsmen couldn't be found the Rubber Bowl bleacher seats the Ford Continental Convertible top that had to be held down by hand the official basketball for newborns the love of bologna sandwiches a swimming coach who couldn't swim working hours and hours with the high school basketball team cherishing and humbled by the Summit County Basketball Coach of the Year Award Niam's Parkette on Saturday morning Friday night escapades with your cronies the ability to never pay for a sporting event the inability to paint or use a hammer the same stories that were told and retold that just got better the Ocean City vacation with twenty in a room the Greek trip to Zante the St. Vincent High School football championships the Notre Dame National championship the students who still keep in touch the teaching and coaching experiences that should have been published but never could the perfect birthday parties with only ladies a deep religious faith a lifetime love of sports. The trip was full of friends retold stories and laughter. It was some ride. Another glorious one is beginning. At the end the pace became too slow. You were right: the sun will melt the snow and the wind will blow the leaves. Frank leaves behind his wife Georgia daughter Kathryn sons Steve and Frank (Mari) grandkids Rhiannon Mason and Mikol. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday February 8 2012 11 AM at St. Vincent Catholic Church 164 W. Market St. Akron 44303. Family will receive friends two hours PRIOR to Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite youth sports program.
