Frank Biondo

July 28, 1929 — December 13, 2009

Frank 'Sporty' Biondo 80 of Akron went to be with the Lord on December 13th. He was preceded in death by his parents Vincenzo and Veda Biondo. His brothers Anthony and Angelo and sister Veda. Frank is survived by his loving wife Julia of 53 years his brothers Jim and Joseph Biondo; his son Jaime and wife Jill and his wonderful grandchildren Lorenzo and Ilonna. He was also the proud uncle of many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. Frank was an Akron native and a WWII Veteran. He worked at the City Bakery decorating wedding cakes in his early years. Then worked in the transportation industry for ECMCA. And finally in his retirement he worked at the Turkeyfoot Lake Golf Course doing what he loved best taking care of the grounds and flowers and getting in an extra round of golf every now and then. Sporty was an avid golfer having achieved many 'holes in one' in his lifetime. His ability to care for plants also won him several Akron Home Beautification awards over the years. Ultimately he was a kind and loving husband father and grandfather. Always giving of himself generously. He will be greatly missed by all. Friends may call at the Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. on Tuesday Dec 22 2009 from 10:30 until time of service at 12:30. Private burial to follow.
