Francis (Frank) Flanagan, 91, of Copley, died June 14, 2018 at Hospice of Medina County. He was born on May 6, 1927 in Keokuk, Iowa and grew up in Victor Colorado. Frank graduated from St. Joseph's Military Academy in Hays, KS., entered the Army in 1945, and graduated from Regis College in Denver in 1950. He settled in Akron, Ohio and worked for the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company until retirement. Frank was devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a treasurer for The Ancient Order of Hibernians, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a lector at St. Sebastian's Church for many years. He was an avid reader and accomplished musician who enjoyed lively conversations, and family social events. Frank was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, parents David Flanagan and Helen Wolfe and sisters Patricia Sloss, Betty Matthews and Kathleen Conley. He is survived by sisters Mary O'Flaherty (Pat) and Rita House (Myron), daughter Susan Wervey (Bill), sons David (Tessie), Thomas (Jackie), Patrick (Katie), Jack, 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 19th, 2018 at 9:30 AM at St. Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 W. Market St. Interment on Wednesday, June 20th at 10:30 AM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home in Copley, 3475 Copley Rd, on Monday, from 4-7 pm.
