Floyd Ellwood Cummings 89 of Kenmore passed away on Saturday August 21 2010 at Hospice of VNS in Copley. Floyd was born on May 29 1921 in South Fork PA to the late Edward and Ida (Fyock) Cummings. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army with the First Amphibious Engineering Brigade and the 33rd Chemical Decontamination Company. He was a member of the Firestone VFW Post #3383. He was a welding instructor at B&W for 42 years. He loved animals and would often care for abanadoned wild animals. He would talk of having a pet crow and skunk. He knew almost everyone in his neighborhood talking to whomever was around when he went for his daily walk. There were never strangers to him only friends he hadn't yet met. He was never one to outwardly show much emotion but he was a very kind gentle and loving man and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Along with his parents Floyd was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Jacqueline 'Jacie' (Osborne) Cummings brother Harold Cummings and sister Donna Hoke. He is survived by brother Calvin Cummings of PA; son Randall (Deitra) Cummings of Cuyahoga Falls daughter Pamela (Raymond) Kilgore of Copley; grandchildren Heather Coleman of Cuyahoga Falls Amanda (Joseph) Erickson of Wadsworth Twp. and Raymond 'Trey' Kilgore of Copley; and great-grandchildren Morgan Coleman Hermione Coleman and Charles Heritage of Cuyahoga Falls and Kelly Erickson and Jennifer Erickson both of Wadsworth Twp. Cremation has taken place. A private internment will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be mailed to the Firestone VFW Post #3383 690 W.
