Eugene Halamay

Eugene 'Sukie' William Halamay age 81 passed away Wednesday October 24 2012. Gene was born in Akron Ohio on January 5 1931 to the late Frank and Catherine Halamay. He graduated from Akron St. Vincent High School in 1950 where he played basketball and football and later was inducted into their Football Hall of Fame. Gene attended the University of Akron where he played football for three years for the Zips. He also served as a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. After 50 years of sales Gene retired. He enjoyed sports music gardening cooking and animals. He had a special love for helping his daughter Kristin with her local pet rescue Wallace's Run in Copley. Gene is preceded in death by his brother Ross and his sister Olga Blondyn. He leaves his wife Anne (Ley) of 60 years and was a devoted father of Beth (Dale) McCutcheon of North Canton Kathy (Bob) Rowe of McKinney TX Kristin (Will) Finley of Copley son-in-law Bruce Stiver of Uniontown and cherished grandchildren Anna from Seattle WA Michael and Patrick of Denver CO Andrew of Salt Lake City UT Daniel of Oklahoma City OK and Marin and Colin of Copley brother Bill Halamay of Fairlawn and sister Sonya Benavent of Peachtree City GA. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday October 29 2012 10 AM at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church 161 W. Clinton St. Doylestown 44230. Entombment in Holy Cross to follow.
