Eugene Abdenour

Eugene 'Gene' T. Abdenour 93 of Akron passed away on January 16 2011. He was born in Lawrence Massachusetts on June 7 1917 and came to Akron with his parents when he was 2 years old. He attended Central High School and the University of Akron where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Gene retired from the B.F. Goodrich Company in 1982 after nearly 30 years of service. Gene was a prominent athlete in Senior Olympics in Ohio and Florida where he spent his winters. He won many medals and honors in both state and national events. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Jamelie; his brothers Joseph and Emil; and sister Lourice Budoff. Gene is survived by his son Bruce of Seattle Washington; daughter Carol Johnson of Victorville California; grandchildren Gerald and Shawn Johnson and Jesse and Leah Abdenour; brother-in-law Hyman Budoff; sister-in-law Carol Abdenour; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday January 22 2011 at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St Akron. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
