Ernest Fournier

Ernest (Ernie) Fournier, Akron, Ohio, died November 20, 2016 in Florida while on a celebratory vacation with his wife. He fought hard but lost the battle against cancer. Ernie was born to Josephine and Richard Fournier in Akron, Ohio on October 22, 1957. He attended Lincoln Grade School, Roberts Middle School and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1976. During high school, Ernie worked at Cuyahoga Falls High School as a Custodian. After graduating, he continued to work at the school while attending the University of Akron. There he met his wife Sharon. They were married and had two children. Working and raising a family, Ernie still had time to graduate from college with a Bachelor's in Education. He received his teaching license in 2000 and began teaching for Hudson City Schools. While teaching, he continued his education and received a Master's Degree in Education. He received his principal license in 2006. Ernie most recently could be found teaching computer classes at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Wadsworth. He loved working with children. Ernie was preceded in death by his mother Josephine Fournier. He leaves behind his wife, Sharon, of 36 years, sons Justin (Jenni) and Richard, grandchildren Jackson, Jordan, Josie, Andrew and Stephen, brother Joe (Carol) Fournier and father Richard (Barbara) Fournier. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3450 Sycamore Dr., Stow. Calling Hours will be held Friday, November 25, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 East Exchange Street, Akron. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family School Endowment.
