Elvia Fabrizio

Elvia M. (Stevens) Fabrizio, 97, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2017. Elvia was born in Krebs, Oklahoma in 1920. She graduated from North High School in the class of 1938. She worked at Polsky's before marrying John Fabrizio in 1940. During World War II, she worked at Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. while she awaited the return of her husband from four years of overseas service. Elvia was a resident of Cuyahoga Falls and attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church for many years. She was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Elvia was a 'fashionista' long before the term was used and she loved shopping for beautiful outfits (including her signature hat collection) at first in Downtown Akron and later at the suburban malls. Besides shopping expertise, she dispensed very good advice on life in general and, although everyone didn't always follow it, she proved to be right about most things. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Josephine Stevens, her beloved husband of 63 years, John Fabrizio, and sister, Margaret Bartolomucci. She is survived by daughters, Diane (Ron) Hummel of Cuyahoga Falls and Janet (George) McCone of Littleton, CO. She has three granddaughters, Denise (Paul) Banfield, Stephanie Hummel, and Katie (Trevor) McGarvey. She also leaves three great grandchildren, Tyler Gibson, Hannah Gibson, and Jack McGarvey. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Carmen Alexander. She also is survived and will be missed by many nieces and nephews and cousins and their families. Calling hours are Thursday, June 15 from 4-7 PM at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St. Akron. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Akron. Private Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Danbury Wood and Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service for the excellent care and support given to Elvia.
