Elmer Hoffman

June 21, 1920 — January 30, 2007

Elmer C. Hoffman Jr. 86 of Akron died January 30 2007. A life long resident of Akron retired Director of Audio Visual Education for the Akron Public Schools and WW II veteran he was preceded in death by his wife Marion and is survived by brother Gerald (Odette) of Camp Hill PA; sons Jeffrey (Peggie) of Atlanta GA and Brian of Akron; daughter Jennifer of Akron; grandsons Eric (Maria) and Alex; granddaughter Heather; great-grandchildren Ella and Kevin. He served on the board of the Towpath Credit Union (formerly Akron Teacher's Credit Union) for many years and was an active gardener and member of the Men's Garden Club of Akron. Photography was his passion. In addition to his many memorable family photo shoots he was the official photographer of the National Soap Box Derby in the 1950's and his photos taken shortly after the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp were donated to a US Holocaust Memorial. A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron 3300 Morewood Rd. Akron OH 44333 on Saturday February 10 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron Foundation or a charity of choice.
