Eleanor Woods

VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE Eleanor 'Polly' Woods went to be with the Lord on August 19 2006. Born in Roodhouse IL. she graduated from Bethany College WV and William Woods College Fulton MO where she met her future husband who was attending Westminster College in the same town. Eleanor and Thomas were marred in 1940. They moved to Akron with their 4 children in 1955. Polly taught reading at Ritzman School and was a member of Dirty Foot. She served on the board of United Disability Services. She was an active member of Akron Womans City Club for many years belonged to Turkey Foot Island Club and the Akron Jewish Center. She was an avid golfer and loved to play bridge. She and Tom enjoyed traveling and wintered in south Texas during their retirement years. Polly was a great encourager had a positive outlook and a smile for everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Thomas McCoy Woods Jr. She is survived by her children Karen (Robert) Klein Thomas III (Susan) Michael (Patti) and Peter (Tonya); 14 grandchildren: Casey (Mary) Tim (Julie) Andrew (Kara) and Christopher Klein Elizabeth (Art) Cerimele Sam Mac Molly Margaret Doug Chris Rebecca Kailee and Tyler Woods; 7 great grandchildren: Abby Tom Max Stuart Skylar Katherine Eleanor and Kaelen Klein. She and Tom were members of The Chapel on Fir Hill where her memorial service will be held on Sunday August 27 at 1:30 p.m. The family suggests memorials to Hattie Larlham Foundation 9772 Diagonal Road Mantua OH 44255 or The Chapel on Fir Hill 135 Fir Hill Akron OH 44304.
