Elaine Mae Letz, age 72, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on January 6, 2016. Born in Sharon Township to the late Esther and Clinton Myers, she is survived by her loving husband, Dan; daughter, Kim Guldeman and her grown child with Steven Guldeman, Laura (Steve) Henley; son, Keith, with his wife Beth and their two children, Katey and Daniel, all of Roanoke VA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family, great friends, and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her brother, Don (Jean) Myers, her brother, Merle (Nancy) Myers, and her sister, Shirley (George) Maag. A graduate of Highland High School and Kent State University, she worked briefly as an elementary school teacher before leaving to become a full-time homemaker and stay at home mom to her children. Elaine, being creative and gifted, could do just about anything with needle and thread, earning national recognition for her quilt work over the years. She also donated her talents to Akron Children's Hospital by sewing thousands of 'Pinkie' hand puppets and knitting booties and hats for babies in the Neonatal Care Unit. The family wishes to thank Mom's loving friend Lynn and the Palliative Care Staff at Akron Summa Hospital for their support. And most of all, the family owes a debt of gratitude to Elaine's friend and long-time caregiver, Deborah Franklin, for her loving care of Mom. The family will receive friends TODAY, Friday January 8, 2016 from 4 to 8 pm and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY, 3475 Copley Rd.
