SISTER ELAINE EGGERT OP Sister Elaine Eggert formerly Sister Rona222ld died at the age of 93 on Saturday July 27 2013 at Regina Health Center Richfield OH. Sister Elaine was born on February 15 1920 in Akron OH the second child of Henry and Florence Eggert. She entered the Sisters of St. Dominic of Akron now Dominican Sisters of Peace from St. Paul Parish Akron in 1938 and made first profession of vows on July 7 1940. She received her BSE and MSE from St. John College Cleveland. Sister Elaine began her teaching career at SS. Peter & Paul School Doylestown. She taught mainly the primary grades at St. Dominic Youngstown; St. Vincent and St. Paul Akron; St. Agatha Cleveland; and St. Augustine Barberton. In 1955 she was appointed Diocesan Supervisor of Schools for the Cleveland Diocese a position she held for five years. She became principal at Immaculate Conception Ravenna in 1964 and at St. Agatha Cleveland in 1970. From 1979-87 she was Mission Education Coordinator for the Propagation of the Faith for Cleveland Diocese and held the same position for the Youngstown Diocese from 1989-95. In 1995 Sister Elaine returned to Our Lady of the Elms where she performed community service including ordering and distributing hosts to the local parishes. She enjoyed volunteering at the CYO Adult Care Services at National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) and at Catholic Social Service Committee (CSSC) in Summit County. Because of health issues she was moved to Regina Health Center on August 9 2007. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters Rita Buetel and Dolores Doyle and brothers Ronald and Thomas. Visitation will take place at Our Lady of the Elms Convent 1230 W. Market St. Akron on Tuesday July 30 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. with a Wake Service at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Elms Chapel on Wednesday July 31at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
