Edward P. Waltz, age 85, of Akron, Ohio passed away Tuesday, December 2nd. Ed was born April 13th, 1929 in Akron, Ohio to the late O.C. Waltz and Marie Waltz and grew up and spent his entire life in Akron. He graduated from Buchtel High School and attended and earned a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron. Ed served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War in Guam. He worked for Goodyear for 39 years and had the opportunity to live in many countries with his family. He was a charter member of St. Hilary Church, and he belonged to the Doylestown Barnstormers RC Flying Club. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann, his children James, William (Marie), and Marie (James) DeKemper, and his five grandchildren Erin, Maggie, Jason, Abby, and Samantha. His family would like to thank all the nurses in the oncology infusion department at Cooper Cancer Center of Summa Hospital for the wonderful care he received. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, December 6th at 10am at St. Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 W. Market St., Akron where calling hours will be held prior to the mass from 9:00-10:00am. Relatives and friends are welcome at a brunch following the service. Private interment to be held at the convenience of the family at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Hilary Church or to St. Hilary's Homeless Ministry.
