VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE Edward J. Dunlavy Jr. 84 of Akron died November 15 2004. Ed was a graduate of St. Sebastian Grade School class of 1934 Buchtel High School class of 1938 and The University of Notre Dame class of 1942. He was a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy. He served with distinction during WWII in the Pacific as a Naval Aviator and Landing Signal Officer on the USS Wake Island. Ed returned from WWII and spent the next 20 years working for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. where he became General Sales Manager of the Plastic's Division. Ed continued in the plastic's industry in senior positions with Elm Coated Fabrics Seilon Inc. and Roton Inc. He then began a new career in the insurance industry. He co-founded and managed Employee Benefit Plans Inc. A successful third party administration business. He retired from the company in the early 90's. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Margery Dunlavy nee Perrot; son Patrick (Daryl); daughters Peggy and Carolyn; grandchildren Michael Erin and Courtney; brother Jack (Bobbie). He was known by his friends as the Big E an avid golfer and a Notre Dame football enthusiast to the end. He was a lunch time fixture with his buddies at the Akron Family Restaurant. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday November 19 2004 10 am at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Private inurment in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later time.
