Dr. Edward J. Lash 81 died Monday October 11 2004. Following service as an artilleryman with the 100th Infantry Division in France and Germany during World War II he attended Michigan State University and the Western Reserve University School of Dentistry and received post graduate training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Cincinnati General Hospital. A practitioner in Akron from 1952 until his retirement in 1993 he was a past president of the Akron Dental Society a member of the American Great Lakes and Ohio Associations of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons a Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and a member of the honorary Pierre Fauchard Academy. For the Akron community he had served as Chairman of the Health Division of the Akron Community Council trustee of the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society and was a member of downtown Kiwanis and the Akron Jacees. An avid golfer and fly fisherman he was a member of the Rockwell Springs Trout Club where he introduced many of his friends to the wonderful world of fly fishing and then with them traveled to fish many of the great trout rivers throughout the country. Following his retirement from practice he found a new pleasure when he became a member of the Saint Sebastian Church choir. He is survived by his wife Gloria and children and their spouses Clifford (Christine) of Atlanta GA Barbara (Scott) Davidson of Pittsburgh PA Erica (Dr. Steven) Jones of Pittsburgh PA Susan (John) Kiley of Manchester MA David (Pamela) of Atlanta GA Kara (Joel) Monson of St. Louis MO and 12 grandchildren. Memorial Mass Friday October 15 2004 at 10:00 am at St. Sebastian Church 476 Mull Ave Akron. Burial of ashes will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
