Dorothy Ziga

Dorothy Lea Ziga (nee Hess), 98, died February 24, 2024.

Dorothy was born on January 22, 1926 in Martinsburg, WV. The daughter of Mary and John Hess. Dorothy spent her youth in Martinsburg where she met her husband, Michael.

Dorothy was dedicated to her husband Michael and together they raised their family calling Akron and Saint Vincent de Paul Parish home.

Dorothy was a devout Catholic and member of St. Vincent Parish. She was active in Saint Vincent Alter Society and volunteered in the Grade School and Parish Rectory.

She enjoyed traveling with Mike and friends across the U.S. and Europe. Mike and Dorothy were avid dancers and card players. They loved all the holidays spent with their children, grandchildren and relatives.

She was preceded in death by husband Michael G. Sr.; daughter Terrie (Therese) Siefert; parents, John and Mary Hess; her brother Leonard and sister Virginia.

She is survived by her nine children, Michael G. Jr. (Rebecca), Timothy (Judy), John Stephen (Barbara), David, Patrick, Rosemary, Bernadette (Steve) Hall, Ann Marie Ziga McGoldrick, Rita McLaughlin and son in law George Siefert; 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to recognize the support and love Dorothy received while at The Village of Saint Edwards, the care givers from Senior Helpers and Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, March 4 at 11am at St. Vincent Church, 164 W. Market St. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Saint Vincent de Paul Parish or The Village of Saint Edwards Foundation.
