Dorothy (Larko) D'Andrea 78 died peacefully surrounded by family at Home after having received the consolation of mass and the sacraments celebrated by her nephew Fr. Philip Racco (Pastor St. Bernadette Parish Westlake). She was born in Akron Ohio to the late Anna and Stephen Larko and had been an area resident since except when she wintered in Florida with her late husband Pat ''Patsy'' D'Andrea. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her siblings Ray (Edith) Larko Delores Ess (Arizona) Helen (Wallace) Seebold (California) Kenneth (Claire) Larko; sisters-in-law Marceline D'Andrea-Trunck Donna (Gene) D'Andrea Mary Lou (Tom) Larko and many nieces nephews as well as grand nieces and grand nephews. She was preceded in death by Patsy her loving husband of 40 years; brother Thomas; brothers-in-law Gene D'Andrea Frank Racco Bill Trunck and sister-in-law Inez Racco. Dorothy and Patsy were avid travelers having visited such places as Rio de Janeiro Italy Paris Greece British V.I. Las Vegas and Southern California always preferring places where the sun was shining. They wintered in Coral Gables Florida until he passed in 2000. Dorothy worked for 30 years for Phillips Petroleum Company until her retirement when the firm left the Akron area. Dorothy sang in the church choir of St. Anthony of Padua (Akron) when she was a parishioner. She very much enjoyed her time at St. Hilary parish especially her involvement with the Surviving Spouses and Bible Studies groups. She volunteered in other parish activities assembling bulletins and serving funeral luncheons and at Stewart Caring Place helping individuals and families touched by cancer until her declining years caught up with her. Her loss of mobility didn't stop her philanthropy. She aided many causes including her parishes CYO Camp Christopher Akron General Hospital Cardiac Wing Interval Brotherhood Home and the Humane Society. She established scholarships through the Italian American Businessmen's Association as well as the University of Akron to aid hard working and deserving students. During her illness Dorothy received special care from her niece Karen (Trunck) Braucci and the family is immensely grateful to her for all she has done to attend to Dorothy's comfort and needs. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 20 from 3-6 p.m. at the Hummel Funeral Home 3475 Copley Road Copley Ohio 44321. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday January 21 11:00 a.m. at St. Hilary Parish 2750 West Market Street Fairlawn Ohio 44333. Private family interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dorothy's name to the St. Hilary Parish Foundation or St. Anthony Parish.
