Donald Gordon

Donald K. 'Don' Gordon went home to be with the Lord on June 26 after a brief illness. He was received by his parents 1st wife Rita and 2nd wife Doris. Don was born on March 27 1925 in Youngstown OH. At a young age he moved with his family to Lakewood OH. Don served in the U.S. Army during WWII with Battery A 795th AAA mostly in France. Returning home Don moved to Akron and went to work for Goodyear Aerospace-Wheel and Brake Division retiring with 30 years of service. Donald was also very active in Scouting rising from Cub Master to Assistant District Commissioner. Don is survived by his three sons Steve (Barbara) Gordon of Ellet; Michael Gordon of Brunswick; and Paul (Sandy) Gordon of Cuyahoga Falls; brother William (Janice) Gordon of Medina; sister Sandra (John) Higman of Titusville FL; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and numerous loving relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday June 30 at 10am at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church 2425 Myersville Rd. Akron OH 44312. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery where military honors with an honor guard provided by the Copley Veterans will take place. The family will receive friends Friday June 29 from 4-7p.m. at The Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY 3475 Copley Rd. Copley OH 44321.
